There are just two cantinas that produce estate-bottled wine from the 6-hectare Marenca cru: Luigi Pira and Gaja. Pira has the largest holding in this cru with 2.2 hectares

Calcareous clay soils with a south-southwest exposure
Fermentation and maceration for 12-15 days in stainless steel
Aging for 24 months in a combination of small barrels and large cask, plus one year in bottle before release
