NEW YORK CITY METRO SALES MANAGER

Reporting to the Director of Sales, the New York City Metro Regional Sales Manager (“RSM”) is responsible for all sales within the NYC Metro area. This role will maintain an in-depth and thorough knowledge of the NYC marketplace conditions and will develop and implement strategies to assure an increase in market share, sales and drive profitable business plans to achieve company goals and objectives. The RSM will proactively identify market opportunities and allocate resources to capitalize on those opportunities. The RSM will be responsible for all current and future sales reps located within NYC.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of wine & spirits sales and/or 3+ years of Sales Management
  • Market network of buyers & clientele in NYC Metro
  • Understanding of the NYC Metro marketplace and relevant competition
  • Knowledge of the Skurnik portfolio and producers
  • Expertise in the field of wine & spirits

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The RSM’s duties include but are not limited to the following:

ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT:

  • Relationship Management: The RSM should have strong relationships with all accounts of significance with responsibilities to include:
  • Off Premise: achieving increased points of distribution across important company brands; ensuring appropriate shelf space/displays in key accounts.
  • On Premise: monitoring BTG and wine list placements; acting as the ear on the ground for restaurant openings/closings/happenings.
  • Account assignment & re-assignment – deciding which rep should be calling on which account.

TERRITORY/REP MANAGEMENT:

  • Direct Supervision of Sales Reps: The RSM will handle all aspects of the supervision of sales reps in their territory, including but not limited to: evaluating both overall individual and account-level performance, monitoring sales rep budgets, approving time off requests.
  • Building New Territories/Recruitment/Hiring/Performance Reviews: The RSM is an ambassador of the Skurnik brand and culture. The RSM will be tasked with fostering relationships with the next generation of wine professionals, targeting talent for potential future hires.
  • Programming Recommendations: The RSM will provide the Director of Sales with intel and guidance when making programing decisions.
  • Work-With Calendar/Supplier Visits – The RSM will assist the Director of Sales and Sales Management Coordinator with the work-with calendar as well as arranging events/dinners/in-stores for visiting suppliers along.

PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT COLLABORATION:

  • The RSM will work with the Portfolio Managers to launch new brands, prioritize existing brands, make programming recommendations, and advise on trends and market needs.

Ideal candidate has excellent analytical & collection skills, and a solid understanding of basic accounting rules and procedures.
