"From a historic part of the winery that their father rescued in the early 1990s, the 2021 Barolo Gallinotto has a fantastic nose that™s fresh with bright herbs and crushed stones. On the palate, the wine captures a gorgeous linear feel, refined and seamless, with lovely integration and the structure to age over the coming 15-20 years."

"This is a proprietary vineyard name, and in most years, the fruit hails from Berri in La Morra. The Mauro Molino 2021 Barolo Gallinotto has a little more fruit definition and a little less mineral definition compared to the estate's village bottling. The wine ferments in stainless steel and continues to barrique for malolactic fermentation, then it ends up in both small and larger oak vessels for aging. I found earthy notes of tree bark and iris root at the core of this pretty wine, but it settles to reveal pressed flowers and forest berry. This is a release of 10,000 bottles."

"Though not declared on the label, Gallinotto hails from the relatively remote, lesser-known MGA of Berri. Mauro purchased 5ha here in 1994, when others considered it too cold for Nebbiolo. This limited-edition bottling is crafted from the best exposed south- to southwest-facing plot. Aged in used barriques, it emerges with grilled herbs, mace and subtle vanillin atop strawberry and macerated red cherry. Succulent and juicy through the core, the palate opens up to further accents of tobacco, mint and sweet earth. A measured ballast of well-knit, pliant tannins stitches all together. Pristine and seamlessly balanced."

"The cranberry, orange and floral character is so compelling, with a medium body and ultra-fine tannins that are integrated and vivid. Crisp acidity backs it up. Needs time to soften, but a gorgeous young red. Drink after 2028."

"The 2021 Barolo Gallinotto is a very pretty wine from this high-elevation site in La Morra. Kirsch, orange peel, spice, mint and sweet red cherry fruit are all woven together in a lithe, silky Barolo that captures all the elegance of La Morra."

"Cherry, strawberry, mineral and earth flavors mark this solidly built Barolo. Still compact, especially on the finish, yet shows balance and fine length. Best from 2028 through 2043. 765 cases made, 280 cases imported."

"Mid ruby with the beginning of orange tinges. Gorgeous, lifted, perfumed cherry on the nose with the merest suggestion of oak and compact, tightly stitched cherry on the palate. Lots of acidity and gravelly tannins, while the fruit closes up on the finish. Wait. (WS)"
