"The 2021 Barolo Conca is from the smallest cru of La Morra, the amphitheater planted in 1971 by Matteo and Martina's grandfather. The wine is concentrated with aromas of currants, licorice, balsamic herbs, and some forward notes of oak spice, but it™s well-balanced and matches the density and richness that this warmer site provides. The mid-palate has wonderful depth, with ripe tannins, balanced richness of fruit through the mid-palate, and notes of sweet cedar on the finish. I would give it another year or more for it to further integrate, and drink over the following 15-20 years."

"This is the pearl in this precious collection of new releases from Mauro Molino. With only 3,066 bottles created, the 2021 Barolo Conca comes from a hillside site in panoramic La Morra with southern exposures. The oak is prominent here (with malolactic fermentation and maturation in barrique), but the Conca fruit has the natural structure and texture to hold an elegant and focused composure throughout. Indeed, I'd say that the wine's intense sharpness is its prettiest attribute. However, I do recommend that you set it aside for more bottle aging."

"Though this red is well-oaked, there™s also volume and flesh embracing the macerated cherry, plum, blood orange, eucalyptus and mineral notes. Finds equilibrium between the flavors, texture and structure, lingering with an aftertaste of oak spice. Best from 2029 through 2047."B.S."

"The 2021 Barolo Conca emerges from one of the better-known sites in La Morra. Sweet red cherry, orange peel, mint, cinnamon and sweet spice give this mid-weight Barolo lovely aromatic charm. I would give this a year or two in bottle, as the tannins are a bit firm today. There's lovely mid-palate pliancy waiting to emerge."

"Inviting nose of leather, spice, plum and dried orange peel; toasty oak, baking spice and pepper on the palate."

"La Morra. Just mid ruby. Earthy, minerally and brooding, with hints of garden herbs. Lush palate that is perfectly balanced but still in an embryonic state. Great precision and long fragrant finish. More solid than this producer's La Serra but equally complex. (WS)"
