Contrordine

Contrordine

Contrordine was an idea hatched over dinner one evening between Ivan Giuliani of Terenzuola in Tuscany and his cousin, the restauranteur Davide Minolett of La Rampolina in Stresa on Lago Maggiore. They had grown up together in Alto Piemonte “elbow to elbow’ as Ivan says, and though they went in different directions in life, they remained close friends.

After the dinner, Ivan began searching for the ideal vineyard in the Alto Piemonte area, specifically in the province of Novara where he was born. As winemaker and owner of Terenzuola in Colli di Luni, Ivan knew how to navigate the splendid soils ranging from alluvial gravel to purple porphyry. After meeting Davide Carlone, a renowned winemaker from Novara who also lent a hand to the project, he began to realize his dream of expressing his birthplace through the glass.

Ivan manages a small plot of land in the Boca DOC from which the Contrordine is sourced. Keeping true to the spirit of a renewed bond from the days of childhood, Ivan and Davide enlisted their friend Alfio Antognetti to design their logo: a figure holding a glass, moving forward but looking back. That man is Ivan, with his head at the lake of his childhood and his body at the sea of his current home.
