Barbaresco ‘Valeirano’, La Spinetta [wood cs]
La Spinetta’s Valeirano Barbaresco comes from a 3-hectare vineyard in Treiso, which enjoys the best exposure of this high-reaching cru. The vines are 47-53 years old and are planted to calcareous soil at 300 meters above sea level, all with a southern exposure. Harvest usually happens in the first or second week in October. Fermentation and skin maceration takes place over 7-8 days. The wine then ages for 20-22 months in new, medium toasted, French oak barrique. Malolactic fermentation takes place in the barrique. Valeirano Barbaresco is then aged for another year in bottle before its release. The wine is not filtered of fined.
