"A graceful red with a spicy nose, showing graphite, licorice, earth, juniper and wild dark fruit. Lots of complexity, offering oak-bark intensity, balsamic notes, rhubarb and pine resin. Full-bodied, this shines with crisp acidity, density and velvety tannins on the savory palate. An amazing wine of stunning depth and detail. Drink or hold."

"The 2021 Barbaresco Currà is always released two years after the other Barbaresco wines, spending additional time in bottle even though the aging regimen is otherwise the same. In the glass, it opens with notes of pomegranate, bright herbs, light earth, and attractive rustic accents. Medium-bodied, it shows wonderful clarity with vibrant tension and acidity, balanced length, and elegant citrus tones that carry through the finish. Harmonious and structured yet weightless on the palate, this is a beautiful expression of the cru. Drink 2026-2046."

"The 2021 Barbaresco Currà just as captivating as it has always been. Readers will find a vertical, explosive young Barbaresco that excels from start to finish. Complex floral aromatics lead into sweet red cherry fruit, mint, white pepper, dried herbs, blood orange and cinnamon. The 2021 has closed down a bit since I tasted it last year, but only by a touch. It's an absolutely compelling wine."

"The 2020 Barbaresco Currà is fascinating to taste next to the 2021, as the two wines paint very clear pictures of their respective vintages. Deep and layered, with superb textural depth, the 2020 is a rich, heady wine that is just starting to open a touch in its aromatics. I would still cellar it for a few years, but opening a bottle now is not a crime. There's real density and plushness here."

"This wine is released one year later than the other Barbarescos in this portfolio. The Sottimano 2020 Barbaresco Currá reveals an open-knit character with immediate tones of tart cherry, dried raspberry and lavender sachet. There is an inherent sweetness to those fruit and floral aromas, and the wine remains contained in terms of mouthfeel thanks to its mid-weight texture. Fruit comes from a 1.5-hectare parcel in Nieve with 40- and 50-year-old vines. Given the warmth of the vintage, I recommend a near- or medium-term drinking window for this 3,000-bottle release."
