Tequila Blanco 'Tahona'

Tequila Blanco Tahona Cascahuin
  • Blanco tequila produced in El Arenal, Jalisco (NOM 1123)
  • Maestro Tequilero Salvador Rosales Torres
  • 100% Blue Weber (Agave tequilana)
  • Roasted in brick ovens
  • Crushed using a traditional stone tahona
  • Fermented in brick & concrete tanks
  • Distilled twice using traditional alembic copper pot stills
  • Dense and earthy with waves of tropical fruit punctuating a rich, peppery, and vegetal baseline
  • Verified additive free by Tequila Matchmaker
  • 42% ABV

The Rosales family abandoned their traditional stone tahona mill in the 1980s, focusing instead on the more efficient roller mill; but the family has recently revived this heritage method of production, reinstalling their tahona (now with a mechanical driving arm, rather than use an animal’s labor to pull the mill), as well as returning to the use of much smaller, and more historical, copper pot alembique stills. The results are phenomenal: rich and complex spirit, balancing peppercorn, cooked agave, and fresh earth punctuated with waves of tropical fruits. Absolutely a benchmark among lowlands (or valles) tequilas.
