Single Malt Scotch Whisky 'Virgin Oak - 10 Year Spanish Oak Cask'

• Limited-release Speyside single malt Scotch whisky from The GlenAllachie [glen•ALLA•key] in Aberlour
• Part of GlenAllachie’s Virgin Oak Series, which sees Scottish single malt undergo additional maturation in specially selected new wood, each uniquely influencing the GlenAllachie spirit
• Double distilled in copper pot stills from 100% malted barley
• Aged 10 years; primarily aged in ex-bourbon casks; finished for 18 months in new Spanish oak hogsheads
• A nose of orchard fruit, baking spice, and citrus with notes of brown sugar, glazed cherries, and sticky toffee pudding; on the palate, chocolate, coffee, and heather honey precede notes of pepper, ginger, and molasses with banana and Sultana raisin on the finish
• Limited US release of only 1,200 bottles
• No added coloring
• Non-chill filtered; 48% ABV

This 10-year-old single malt from GlenAllachie’s Virgin Oak Series obtains its spicy, treacly flavors from secondary maturation in hogsheads made of Spanish oak. Sourced from the regions of Galicia and Asturias—specifically from the cool, humid forests of the Cantabrian Mountains—the oak was air-dried for around 18 months, then toasted and charred to a medium level. The secondary aging in these virgin casks imparts an influence rich with dried fruits, maraschino cherries, and hints of ginger.
