"Pouring a bright red hue, the 2023 Rosso Di Montalcino brings more complexity and energy, with attractive notes of graphite, wild berries, and floral lift on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied and focused, with brisk tannins, refreshing acidity, and mouthwatering salinity that carries through the long finish. I love this vintage, and it™s a particularly strong Rosso that should drink beautifully for years. Drink 2026-2035."

"Super-floral profile, with rose petal, vinous and rich dark fruit aromas. Smooth attack with a medium body and crisp acidity. The tannins are crunchy yet still quite astringent. Will improve with a year of aging, otherwise it™s ready to drink."

"Bridging the gap between fruit-forward appeal and varietal authority, the Gianni Brunelli Le Chiuse di Sotto 2023 Rosso di Montalcino delivers bright berry and cherry fruit with attractive freshness and clarity. Subtle notes of blue flower and bitter almond follow through to a mild, mid-weight finish. The style favors drinkability and immediacy while retaining enough detail to remain engaging. Production totals 6,560 bottles, including larger formats."

"An intense wine with aromas of violets, roses, restrained red cherries and stony minerality. Medium- to full-bodied with a vibrant, fruity palate and raspberry and violet flavors. Crunchy yet ripe and chewy finish. Drink or hold."

"Just bottled a few days before my tasting, the 2024 Rosso Di Montalcino pours a bright, transparent ruby hue and is expressive and refined on the nose, with ripe red berries, fresh flowers, and subtle savory spice. Aged one year in 10-hectoliter casks, the palate is medium-bodied and supple, with ripe tannins, refreshing acidity, and a delicate imprint of wood that adds polish without distracting from the fruit. It has terrific integrity and length, with a real sense of place, and should drink beautifully over the next decade. Drink 2026-2036."

"Recent years have seen Gianni Brunelli™s fame and reputation rise. After his passing in 2008, his wife, Laura continued to manage the estate and today it is one of the most sought after producers of Brunello, whose wines are tightly allocated. To experience her meticulous, fastidious style, pick up this Rosso which is complete and harmonious, with fresh fruit, attractive notes of liquorice and tea leaf, and excellent balance. All in all, a lovely expression of Montalcino Sangiovese that has been given a year™s ageing in cask. A little less open than some, this could benefit from another year in bottle before starting to drink."

"Vibrant red, the 2022 Rosso Di Montalcino takes on aromas of grenadine, apricot, tangerine, and pressed flowers. This medium-bodied Rosso remains pure and focused, with lovely balance in its fruit. It has fine tannins and is graceful, with a refined texture on the palate. Harmonious in its feel, it is fantastically balanced and is going to have a wide drinking window over the coming 10 years. Approximately 10,000 bottles were produced."

"The 2022 Rosso di Montalcino is exotic, as blood orange and clove mix with dried black cherries, sage and crushed rocks. This flows across the palate, finessed and feminine, with brisk acidity and soothing ripe red and blue fruits. It leaves a gentle tug of tannic tension and a chewy sensation, tapering off long and hauntingly dark."

"The 2022 Rosso di Montalcino also shows its own distinctive point of richness, adding to a more complex interpretation of this entry-level wine. Dried fruit, cinnamon stick and crushed stone are the markers. I highly recommend this bottle for its balanced fruit flavors and mid-weight texture. I would venture to say that this wine is closer to Brunello status than it is to Rosso di Montalcino. This is a release of 9,106 bottles and larger formats."

"Split cedar and pine give way to dusty rose and dried black cherries as the darkly alluring 2021 Rosso di Montalcino blossoms in the glass. Its plush textures and ripe dark red fruits flaunt their southern Montalcino terroir as brisk acidity and mineral tones maintain a lovely balance. The 2021 finishes lightly structured yet still energetic, enlivened by a lingering spiced citrus note. Short-term cellaring is recommended."
