Las Jaras Wines LLC

Las Jaras Wines is the vibrant creation of actor-writer Eric Wareheim and winemaker Joel Burt, a partnership born out of a shared passion for delicious, expressive wines that bring people together. Founded in 2017, LasJaras quickly carved a distinctive space in the California (and Oregon) wine scene, championing a fresh approach to winemaking that combines serious craft with an easygoing spirit.

Joel Burt, a UC Davis-trained winemaker who started his career working with Alice Bouvot (Domaine l’Octavin) and culminated with Aaron Pott (Pott Wine) before starting Las Jaras, steers the cellar with a keen understanding of both traditional and natural winemaking. His philosophy focuses on minimal intervention, allowing the inherent character of the grapes and vineyard sites to shine through. His technical background ensures that even the most playful wines from Las Jaras are crafted with precision.

Las Jaras sources fruit from organic and sustainable vineyards throughout Mendocino, Sonoma, Sta. Rita Hills and Oregon, favoring old vines and cool-climate sites that promote natural acidity and complexity. They work closely with their growers, supporting farming practices that respect the land and encourage biodiversity. Whether it’s head-trained Carignan from ancient Mendocino vines or Chenin Blanc from heritage plantings, the emphasis is always on authenticity and purity of fruit.
