In a reimagining of the mash bill of their flagship Small Batch Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Castle & Key swaps the spicy rye for wheat, resulting in a sweeter, creamier finish. Batch 2 of this flagship wheated bourbon shows a touch more fruit and spice than the more confectionary Batch 1.

Batch 2 of Castle & Key Distillery’s inaugural Small Batch Wheated Bourbon is a wheated straight bourbon whiskey produced in Frankfurt, Kentucky. Composed of a mash bill of 73% white corn, 10% wheat, and 17% malted barley, Castle & Key has reimagined the mash bill of their flagship Small Batch Straight Bourbon Whiskey, swapping out the spicy rye for wheat, resulting in a sweeter, smoother finish. Distilled in a Vendome copper column still, this is the oldest release yet from Castle and Key at 5 years. Aromas of cocoa powder, toffee, butter cream, and baked pear on the nose precede a palate showing roasted cashew, dried apricot, grains of paradise, and fennel with dark honey and black pepper on the finish. Batch 2 shows a touch more fruit and spice over the warmer, more confectionary Batch 1. Non-chill filtered; 49% ABV.
