NULU Whiskey

Keith Hazelbaker, a certified financial planner, was approached for business advice in 2015 by two burgeoning craft distillers. After getting to know their small company, Keith found himself personally invested in its mission of bringing carefully considered, small-batch spirits to Louisville, Kentucky. Keith purchased the business in 2016, and Prohibition Craft Spirits Distilling Company was born, quickly becoming a family affair—Keith’s son Carson joined the team immediately, and his son Chase followed suit a couple of years later.

The distillery produces a number of small-batch spirits including vodka, rum, gin, and even barrel-aged tequila. But Louisville sits in the heart of bourbon country, and American whiskey is central to Prohibition Craft Spirits’s endeavors. In 2019, the company launched NULU Whiskey, a lineup of sourced bourbon in a range of single barrels, blends, and finishes.

Nulu is the shorthand name for “New Louisville,” the East Market Street neighborhood in which the distillery is located. NULU Whiskey skillfully reflects the energy of its surroundings, combining Kentucky historical legacy with a renewed sense of craft and community. A commitment to transparency and a maturing talent for structuring balanced blends make NULU a range of bourbons not to be missed.
