"The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru takes a few swirls of the glass to cohere, gaining intensity, pure black cherries and hints of blueberry. It becomes floral in style. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid red berry fruit, fine acidity, taut and fresh, with edgy tannins. I appreciate the energy in this young Vosne-Romanée. It's not dazzling in length, but there is backbone and grip in tandem with elegance. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting."

"The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux Monts 1er Cru has a gorgeous bouquet that leaps from the glass: red cherries, wild strawberry and crushed stone scents with rose petal aromas emerging with aeration. Wonderful delineation and clever use of oak. The palate is well balanced with finely tuned tannins, perfectly judged acidity and neatly integrated oak. Good substance, rather backward on the black pepper-infused finish, but I can see this evolving well in bottle. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting."
