Fuenteseca 18 Year is composed of 75% tequila distilled in a copper two-column still and 25% double copper pot-distilled tequila, each aged for six years in ex–Canadian rye whiskey casks in Atotonilco El Alto. The tequila was then blended and re-barreled, with 54% of the blend entering ex–California red wine barrels made of European oak and 47% going into Canadian White oak. The barrels were relocated to the cooler climate of El Chapingo for an additional twelve years of aging before bottling.
