• Component whiskies are aged in a variety of casks including re-charred American oak hogsheads, a first-fill Marsala barrique, and custom French oak barrels; non-age statement
• The significance of prolonged French oak-aging (virgin oak, “richly toasted”), which accounts for 35.5% of the overall blend, is highlighted for its component sweetness
• Unrepentantly oily and rich with smoke punctuated by spice notes. Raspberry and apricot hover over tarry rope. Ample notes of baking and savory spice develop on the palate, arrowing towards a balance of medicinal peat and winey fruit. Smoke brings the curtain down in a play of embers and ash, with bright menthol and citrus notes providing lift.

The common theme across recent releases of Flaming Heart has been a balancing act between smoke and sweetness. In the case of the 2025 edition, that drama is staged between the rough third of the blend that is Speyside malt with prolonged aging in French oak, a large chunk of briny Skye malt aged in re-charred American oak, and a judicious proportion of Islay, also aged in re-charred American oak.
