• 100% unpeated barley distilled twice in copper pot stills
• Water is sourced from the Dronac Burn, which flows through the distillery
• Aged 14 years; aged 11 years in sherry casks and finished for 3 years in a first-fill shaved, toasted, and re-charred (STR) barrique seasoned with Pedro Ximénez sherry

• Reddish copper in the glass, this whisky opens with rich notes of tiramisu and caramel apples, followed by a brief detour through pine needles and freshly dug earth before finishing with freshly roasted coffee beans and hints of winey tannin. Mouthcoating and chewy on the palate with dried cherries, dates, shaved dark chocolate, espresso beans, and freshly cracked black pepper backed by a faint, pleasing saltiness. The finish is long and drying with lingering pepper, salt, and dark fruits.

Prized by fans of traditionally made, high-quality Highlands whiskies, GlenDronach is a picture-perfect postcard of a sherry-cask whisky that comes from a postcard of a distillery, rippling fields of barley and a classic Charles Doig pagoda included. Independent bottlings are extremely rare, and in this case SCN gives the classic sherry cask regimen a unique but totally complementary finish in an STR cask seasoned with Pedro Ximénez. It turns out that familiarity, given a deft enough spin, breeds not contempt, but enchantment.
