"Localised yet intense spring hail reduced yields by 30%-40% at the Pomona estate, but owner Monica Raspi was pleased with the quality of what remained. Indeed, the 2023 annata is as pristine as it is precise. There are no corners cut or edges knocked off. Patent and pronounced aromas of balsamic herbs converge inherently with the dark bramble bush and berries. It is steady and streamlined in flow until clayey tannins clamp down. Hardcore minerals are unwavering. Rigid for now, this serious annata should show more yielding charms with a few more months in bottle."

"Effusive and charming, this red exudes cherry, raspberry, floral and mineral flavors. Vibrant and almost seamless, with refined tannins gracing the finish. There's a light touch of wild herbs on the long aftertaste. Drink now through 2035.B.S."

"The 2022 Chianti Classico is a heady, explosive wine. A blast of dark cherry, plum, liquorice, spice and mocha hits the palate as this exuberant Chianti Classico makes a strong opening statement. The 2022 is not subtle, but its depth and overall personality are quite attractive."

"The 2021 Chianti Classico is a wild, potent wine. Black cherry, gravel, incense, iron, game and blood bring out the more animalistic side of Sangiovese. This burly, strapping Chianti Classico has quite a bit to offer, but readers have to expect a pretty big, muscular style."

"Lustrous deep ruby. Firm, concentrated and brooding on the nose, with a peppery tingle. Mouth-filling, tangy fruit with real lift and layered with bags of sandy tannins. Nervy, long finish. (WS) 13.5%"
