- Aged in a refill hogshead until 2017 when it was re-racked by Epicurean Selection in a first-fill Oloroso sherry hogshead
- Bottled on September 22nd, 2022; Aged 17 years
- 249 bottles produced in total
- Bottled at cask strength with no added color
- Non-chill filtered; 57.3% ABV
Oh, the teaspoon—an instrument of particularity, to be sure. In this case, a teaspoon’s worth of distillate mindfully added to single malt from another distillery will technically render the combination a blended malt, though only by the slightest degree. A distillery might use this process when selling a cask to an independent bottler to minimize competition and with the stipulation that their name not be used on the bottle. But a whisky by any other name is just as delicious, and a quick internet search for the origins of the well-established “Williamson” marque will reveal just why it’s so popular.
