Willett Distillery
Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Estate Small Batch
Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Estate Small Batch
- Small batch straight bourbon whiskey produced by Willett Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky
- Blend of two mash bills
- Mash bill 1 (70%): 72% corn, 13% rye, 15% barley
- Mash bill 2 (30%): 52% corn, 38% rye, 10% barley
- Produced with limestone-filtered, spring-fed water from a pond on the distillery estate
- Sour mash fermented in stainless steel for approximately 3–5 days using a proprietary yeast strain
- Twice distilled using a column still made of copper and stainless steel and a Vendome copper pot still modeled after Willett’s original, patented pot still
- Barrel entry proof of 125
- Aged for a minimum of 4 years in new, char #4 American oak barrels from Independent Stave Company’s Kentucky cooperage
- Each batch blended from approximately 50 barrels
- Aromas of brown sugar, pecan pie, grilled peach, spicy cinnamon, orange peel, and a touch of beer hop on the nose prime the palate for big, warm hits of rich burnt sugar, caramel popcorn, clove, charred ginger, and freshly ground coffee with corn muffin, ripe plum, white tea, and toasted grain on the finish
- Non-chill filtered; bottled at cask strength (ABV will vary batch to batch)
Willett’s single barrel Family Estate Bourbon elicits excitement the world over, each bottling highly prized for its limited nature and indisputable quality. So imagine the buzz when the distillery announced the debut of a small batch bourbon to be bottled under the Family Estate label but blended from 50 barrels at a time for a more widely available release. Master Distiller Drew Kulsveen crafts each batch of this exciting addition to the Willett lineup from two distinct mash bills and—as is done with the single barrel Family Estate—bottles at cask strength.
