Lochlea
Single Malt Scotch Whisky, '7-Year Blend, 2018 - 2025'
Single Malt Scotch Whisky, '7-Year Blend, 2018 - 2025'
- Limited edition single malt Scotch whisky distilled at Lochlea [lock•LEE] in South Ayrshire, Scotland (Lowlands)
- The distillery’s third and oldest age-stated release to date
- Produced from 100% malted barley grown on the Lochlea farm
- Twice distilled in bespoke Forsyths copper pot stills
- Matured in 7 specially selected first-fill ex-bourbon casks filled in 2018
- Casks numbered 99, 103, 104, 105, 107, 108, 109
- A deep straw gold in the glass, this whisky opens with rich sensations of vanilla custard and stewed apples. The palate is as broad and indulgent as the nose suggests, evolving towards pastry cream and tropical fruit, with the finish bringing buttery pastry, warm cereal notes, baking spice, and a crisp slice of freshly cut green apple.
- No added coloring
- Non-chill filtered; 50% ABV
A benchmark release for a young distillery (the stills at Lochlea were commissioned in 2018; the barrels for this vatting were filled that year) this edition is the distillery’s third age-stated expression (a five-year-old whisky was released in 2024 and a six-year-old in 2025). The most complex rendering yet of Lochlea’s fruit-forward house style, what’s truly remarkable about this whisky is that all the casks selected for the vatting are ex-bourbon and all are from the same season. And yet, each cask—reflecting the different maturation rates in a dunnage-style warehouse, even in the chilly Scottish Lowlands—provides slightly different, though thoroughly complementary, flavors to the vatting.
