Winter 2019 was abnormally mild, causing early budburst. While this phenomenon generally leads to a premature end to the season, including the harvest, the wine clock has recovered thanks to a cool spring. Bordeaux found itself on frost alert several times from the end of March to mid-May, with no damage for Chateau Haut-Segottes. The next challenge that arose in the 2019 vintage was the heat, but the rain appeared at the right time, bringing freshness and energy to the grapes before the harvest.
Grapes: 60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc
Tasting notes: Wine has a nice balance between the tannins of wine and oak, with aromas of ripe fruit. A racy, pleasant vintage with good aging potential.
Food & wine pairings: Red meat, game, cheese.
