"Made in the style of an Auslese, the 2023 Riesling Josef Vineyard is fabulous. It comes from a single pick on a southern hillside block with high vigor, resulting in an explosively aromatic wine with a citrus-inflected nose of grapefruit, ginger and spice. The sugar, ripeness and acidity are all elevated, and it works magnificently well. The finish rings long with echoes of citrus zest."

"Made in a lower-alcohol (9.4%), sweeter style (54 grams per liter of residual sugar), Wiemer's 2023 Riesling Josef Vineyard is slightly honeyed on the nose, with ripe peaches accented by hints of clove and cinnamon. It's medium-bodied and creamy-textured, with terrific persistence on the finish, the sweetness balanced by mouthwatering acids."

"Aromas of pineapple flan and apple fritters that are ripe and honeyed yet retain bright liveliness, with touches of candied ginger, honeysuckle, citrus oil and jasmine. An almost slippery texture makes for a terrifically tactile experience. Drink or hold, but be patient."
