"The 2023 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru has a taut bouquet with scents of oyster shell and Granny Smith that need a little more vigor. The palate is well balanced, taut and fresh, with a fine bead of acidity and a more neutral finish than perhaps I would have liked. It is a little austere compared to its peers, but it should age well in bottle."

"The 2021 Puligny-Montrachet Les Referts 1er Cru clearly has some reduction on the nose although, unlike some others, this seems proportionate and not fixed. It does not detract from the freshness or delineation. The palate is taut and fresh on the entry. Again, predictably, there is some reduction but it feels complete and full with impressive weight and depth on the finish. Tuck this away for a couple of years - there is promise here. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting."

"Pale lemon. Apple, peach and nectarine on the nose. Fresh acidity and ripe texture on the palate. Quite concentrated but refreshed by bright citrus, with a little oak complexity filling out the back of the palate. (MH)"
