Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 'Peated Sauternes Cask'

• Limited release Western Highland single malt Scotch whisky produced by Ardnamurchan [ARD•na•murkan] Distillery in Glenbeg, Scotland
• 100% malted barley peated to 30–35 ppm
• 72–96-hour fermentation in wooden and stainless steel washbacks

• Matured in 29 ex-bourbon casks for 3 years prior to being re-racked into ex-Sauternes barriques for a further 3.5 years; non-age statement

• The nose opens with a lively flash of lime leaf and lemon balm that mellows to buttery shortbread, warm hay, and caramelized pineapple. The palate broadens to honey and lemon meringue pie, wreathed in nutmeg and earthy smoke. The finish is long and bright, accented with spice and smoke.
• No added coloring
• Non-chill filtered; 50% ABV

The marriage of modest peat smoke and Sauternes decadence is new to Ardnamurchan’s repertoire: the 2025 ArdnAmerica release was the distillery’s first to showcase these flavors. For this Peated Sauternes Cask expression, 100% peated malt is re-racked halfway through its maturation from ex-bourbon barrels into ex-Sauternes barriques. The very successful result is a dram packed with bright citrus, honey, and earthy smoke—a warming, luxurious sipper born on a rugged coast.
