"The 2020 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a burly, powerful nose that lacks the grace of the best wines in the flight. The bouquet offers blackberries, raspberries and a touch of cold black tea, though something keeps drawing me back, perhaps a subtle briny element. The palate is well-balanced, with more black fruit than others and touches of graphite and black pepper. Structured and assertive, it retains balance and freshness with sufficient sapidity to keep you hooked. That said, this bottle doesn't match the potential shown in barrel. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting."
