"Dried flowers and dried cherries, tar and vibrant black cherries. Full-bodied and juicy with substance and ripe, velvety tannins and a slightly more austere finish due to its youth. Refreshing, though. Drinkable now, yet at its peak in no less than one to two years."

"The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino is backward and intense, smoky and borne of the earth, with masses of crushed rocks, sage and rosemary giving way to dried black cherries and cloves. It sweeps across the palate with silky textures and ripe black fruits, gaining further complexity through a core of flint stone minerals. Fresh acidity maintains energy and a mouthwatering feel. The 2020 tapers off long and staining, yet only gently tannic. This combination of rich fruit and juicy personality is wildly attractive."

"The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino shows a touch of over-ripeness with sun-dried prune and cherry liqueur. These potent aromas give this wine a heavily enriched bouquet that is backed by sweet spice, licorice and barbecue smoke. This Brunello is one of the more concentrated and toasted wines among these new releases. It is aged in French oak for 30 months. Production is 10,000 bottles."

"Mid ruby with orange tinges. Firm and still compact on the nose with earthy notes over subdued cherry. Juicy cherry fruit with grainy tannins. Solid rather than exciting. (WS)"

"The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino is dark and intense. It combines dusty earth tones with hints of flowery underbrush, animal musk and mentholated herbs. Nearly velvety in feel, it offers masses of ripe red and black fruits underscored by saline mineral tones. An air of sweet tobacco forms toward the close. Edgy tannins saturate as the 2021 leaves a minty sensation and twang of sour citrus to linger."

"Earthy wine with lush dark cherries, dried flowers and leathery complexity. A lot of sweet fruit on the palate with grainy, austere tannins, crisp acidity and a warming finish. Try after 2028."

"The Poggio Nardone 2021 Brunello di Montalcino shows a slightly gritty texture with loose textural knitting, giving the wine a somewhat open and unresolved feel on the palate. The bouquet is muted rather than fresh, moving away from punchy primary fruit toward spice, bramble and cured leather, suggesting an early shift toward tertiary character. Sourced from Guyot-trained vines rooted in sandstone and galestro-rich soils, this Brunello reflects a more austere interpretation of the vintage and is released in a production of 10,000 bottles."

"Displaying a medium garnet/red hue, the 2021 Brunello Di Montalcino offers ripe notes of chestnut, baking spice, truffle, and dried strawberries. The palate is medium-bodied and a touch understated, yet it floats across the palate with a soft texture, supple, fine tannins, and balanced acidity. It™s a charming Brunello to enjoy over the near term while it retains its freshness."

"On the nose, a flash of flint contrasts with the perfume of rose water, cherry blossom, citrus and cranberries. Those cherry blossoms produce fruit on the palate, rich with cherries and berries before a lightly smoky, chili chocolate finish. Acid adds vibrancy. " Danielle Callegari"

"Lifted floral notes of lilacs and rose hips, followed by a mix of red fruit and spices. Medium-bodied with fine tannins. Balanced overall. Needs some more time to soften and a touch more fruit. Drink after 2027."

"The 2021 Brunello di Montalcino is darkly floral with a rich blend of plum sauce, sage and hints of cocoa forming its attractive bouquet. This washes across the palate with ease, soft and enveloping with a tart core of wild berry fruit guided by brisk acidity. It finishes with medium length and staining, sweet herbal tones and a gentle coating of fine tannin."

"Medium ruby-red. Tobacco and licorice complicate red cherry and smoky plum on the nose. Simple, glycerally sweet red fruit and tobacco flavours linger nicely on the youthfully chewy medium-long finish."

"Impenetrable dark ruby. A curious nose of rich, dark fruit with dried fruit and top notes of cassis, cinnamon and apple peel. Lots of fruit, tannins and acidity on the palate, but still it cannot escape the impression that this is a little overripe and pushed for concentration. (WS) 14%"
