"The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is dark yet intensely floral. A cascade of violets and lavender complements blackberries and spice. It is silken and pliant, with cooling acidity and polished red and blue fruits, all guided by fresh acidity. A coating of edgy tannins adds cheek-puckering tension as this finishes long and structured yet still spry, leaving a tart blackberry twang to linger."

"The 2019 Brunello from La Torre has a shy nose that eventually offers whiffs of leather, resin, forest floor and botanical herb. The linear palate offers juicy Morello cherry, tangerine and coffee bean alongside firm, fine-grained tannins. Drink 2027"2034. Abv: 14.5%"

"Savory plums, roasted sesame, oranges and hints of tar and meaty spices on the nose, leading to a svelte, medium-bodied palate with structured, frosted tannins that add grip to the long, savory finish. Drink or hold."

"Sweet violets and roses giving way to crushed plums and flowery underbrush form a nuanced and inviting bouquet as the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino unfolds in the glass. It,s soft, round and built on purity. There's a saline tinge to its wild berry fruits as a subtle tug of sour citrus adds contrast. The 2018 finishes lightly tannic, savory and almost salty in character, with a touch of brown spice that adds a bit of a rustic flair. While quite enjoyable, the 2018 will be best consumed over the short term. It's a thoroughly balanced Brunello, yet the finish gives me pause from an aging standpoint."
