Showcasing Pinhook’s mature house style, the Magenta Wax expression brings the complexity and balance of a sipper to the price point and proof of a top-notch cocktailing bourbon. Now in its third vintage (Pinhook introduced this expression in 2024 to replace its former High Proof expression), this year’s Magenta Wax release continues to sport the house’s custom bourbon mash bill and a 5-year age statement that’s now standard. Given that this whiskey is essentially the Orange Wax expression with an extra year of maturation—plus flavor-forward cask-strength proof—an instructive side-by-side tasting would seem pleasantly compulsory.
