- A striking red gold color in the glass, this handsome hazmat whiskey flashes its multiple Caribbean rum cask finishes out of the gate with notes of honeyed flowers as well as ripe pineapple, passion fruit, and strawberry. Hints of orange zest and wet stone on the nose lead to hard spice on the palate along with a healthy dose of cane and molasses, balanced by charred corn and roasted peanut. The cereal note of the whiskies rapidly turns tropical as the palate lengthens, offering lychee, kiwi, and lime skin, plus a warm breeze of honeysuckle.
- Non-chill filtered; bottled at a cask strength (hazmat level) of 71.12 % ABV
A showcase for Barrell’s blending expertise, the Black Label Series represents a return to the producer’s creative roots, focusing on bespoke whiskies, in extremely limited quantities, tuned at multiple stages into a creation that’s even greater than the sum of its great parts. Summoning a range of spirits and spirit flavors that stretches from Canada in the north to St. Lucia in the Caribbean, the BCS blending team creates a hazmat potion that preserves the identity of its varied influences even as they are harmonized into something more. Experts and novices alike should take note: A healthy splash of room temperature water or a knob of ice is encouraged for maximum flavor exploration.
