- Blend of straight bourbon whiskeys blended and bottled by Barrell Craft Spirits in Louisville, Kentucky
- Derived mash bill of 73% corn, 23% rye, and 4% malted barley
- Minimum 5 years old
- Composed of Kentucky bourbon aged 8 years, Indiana bourbon aged 5, 6, and 9 years, Tennessee bourbon aged 8 years, and Maryland bourbon aged 5 and 6 years
- Secondary maturation in freshly toasted new American oak
- Aromas of caramel, milk chocolate, honey-roasted almonds, and baking spice lead to a warm and creamy palate of orange sponge cake, lightly roasted coffee, toasted marshmallow, walnuts, and white pepper with a finish of cinnamon, vanilla, and orange zest
- Non-chill filtered; 50% ABV
The second release in Barrell Craft Spirits’ Foundation series, Foundation Double Barrell sees secondary maturation, known as “double-oaking” or “double-barreling” in new American oak that has been toasted rather than charred. This second phase of aging cultivates notes of dark chocolate and dried fruit while softening and deepening the finish for a compelling sipper or cocktailing ingredient.

"Bold toffee and molasses mixed with hints of sherry, raisin, figs and dates add up to a real fruitcake of a bourbon, the finish dusted with cinnamon and clove. This is a blend of straight bourbons (Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and Maryland), averaging out to an age of five years."

"Barrell's original Foundation, released in 2023, was the blender's first non-cask strength whiskey. This release builds on the original, offering the same proof point but now showcasing a double maturation in new American oak. The nose offers blueberry muffins, caramel candies, and apple cider doughnuts. The oak shines through on the palate, providing a tannic and sawdusty contrast to the whiskey's sweeter flavors. The moderate finish leans into vanilla and oak."
