"The 2023 Bonnes-Mares from Domaine Arlaud is a superb example of type, dense with ripe mulberry and raspberry fruit touched with earth, smoke, and a savoury roast meat quality. The texture is immensely structured and powerful, stretching into an interminable finish. The grapes are from a small 0.20ha slice of the vineyard, but the rows run from the bottom to the top, with an alternance of red clay and white marl soils bringing complexity. The finished wine is ageing completely in used casks, giving the wine exemplary purity of fruit."

"The complex blend of exotic Asian spice, forward pomegranate fruit, and savoury, earthy notes make the Chambolle Sentiers an intriguing wine. Some oak is still showing through, but this will integrate with time. There is more density and extract than one might think for a Chambolle at this level, which draws this out to a forceful and long conclusion—charming wine. The grapes come from a parcel of 0.23 hectares that are partially destemmed and aged in a combination of new and used casks."
