Chateau de Briat

Armagnac 'Hors d'Age'

Armagnac 'Hors d'Age'

Armagnac Hors dAge
  • Armagnac distilled at Château de Briat in the village of Mauvezin-d’Armagnac
  • Appellation Bas-Armagnac Contrôlée
  • Cépages: Colombard, Baco, and Folle Blanche (blend may vary lot to lot)
  • Distilled once in a wood-fired alambic Armagnacais (short copper column still)
  • Aged 15 years in a combination of new and used oak (age may vary lot to lot)
  • A rich yet elegant nose exhibits almond paste, slivered almonds, concord grapes, and a touch of lavender and powdered sugar before turning to a sharp palate of lovage and white pepper. A snap of mint on the finish is underscored with the subtlest note of caramelized cinnamon-raisin-bread crust.
  • 43% ABV (ABV may vary lot to lot)

By definition, an Hors d’Age blend will be a minimum ten years old, though Château de Briat is likely to bottle with significantly more age. Though grape blends may vary lot to lot (ugni blanc is not used in production), these bottlings are an excellent representative of the Briat house style and a wonderful introduction to Armagnac at large.
