"The 2023 Riesling Semi-Dry showcases the lifted, spicy citrus character typical of these wines. There was essentially no botrytis in this hot and dry vintage. Tangerine peel, lychee, passion fruit and salted lemon build in the glass, buffered by an enticing balance of fresh acidity and residual sugar (35 grams per liter). There's great body here. The 2023 is in fine form."

He, among others, helped establish the nascent wine region as a destination for renowned terroir-driven wines ‡ specifically Riesling. Although he retired in 2007, Wiemer's legacy lives on with former apprentice and current co-owner Fred Merwarth and his team. This unique Semi-Dry Riesling has a honeyed sweetness with a gingery, waxy texture. The palate is enticing with complex hints of honey, beeswax, spice, and cooked herbs. The acidity is abundant, but the balanced, refreshing structure maintains a subtle concentration of sweetness. This is the perfect wine to offset the heat in a spicy dish, or to enjoy with a dessert cheese platter."
