Pineau des Charentes

Pineau des Charentes

Pineau des Charentes
  • Pineau de Charentes produced by Maison Dudognon in Lignières-Sonneville, France (Grand Champagne)
  • Appellation Pineau des Charentes Contrôlée
  • One-third Dudognon Cognac distilled from Ugni Blanc and Montils grapes, aged between 2 and 3 years
  • Two-thirds unfermented grape must from 100% Montils grapes
  • Cognac and grape must are combined and rested for four years in older French oak barrels that no longer impart tannin
  • Aromas of fresh sugarcane and sultanas with a note of cranberry skin lead to a lush, grape-forward palate complemented by a spike of bay leaf and a finish of hay and clover honey
  • Beer and Wine License eligible
  • 17% ABV

Criminally underutilized in American cocktailing and cooking, pineau des Charentes is a hero apéritif, enjoyed effortlessly on the rocks, topped with tonic, or in place of vermouth in a variety of cocktails. In the kitchen, pineau can be used to baste a roast or deglaze pan juices, or simply as a perfect pairing for your prep-time snacking cheese (that’s a thing, right?). Dudognon’s pineau offers a pitch-perfect balance of golden sweetness and green bite that becomes more complex with each sip while remaining especially sessionable.
