Gin 'Roots of Ruin'

Gin Roots of Ruin Castle Key
  • Dry gin produced onsite at Castle & Key Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky
  • Grain-based distillate that shares a mash bill with Castle & Key’s Restoration Rye (63% rye, 17% yellow corn, 20% malted barley)
  • 8-botanical blend sourced locally from Kentucky including chamomile, ginger, angelica root, lemon verbena, rosemary, licorice root, coriander, & juniper
  • Distillation takes place on a 50’ Vendome copper column still, followed by a 600-gallon copper pot still, then finally distilled on a custom Vendome dual-basket gin still
  • Nose is bright and floral with subtle aromas of baking spice and soft pine; the palate balances citrus and lemon verbena with high tones of spicy ginger & sweet chamomile and a distinct earthy finish reminiscent of wet, spring forest floor
  • Non-chill filtered; 53% ABV

“The name speaks to the restoration of the property and creating something new while honoring our history. The label highlights the native botanicals used in our gin recipe and showcases the turret of the Castle.”—Castle & Key
