"From a one-hectare parcel of 80-year-old vines in Calderara Sottana, the Bella-Colonna 2024 Etna Rosso Calderara Sottana earns its contrada designation thanks to this old-vine fruit. The other Etna Rosso comes from a different nearby vineyard planted with 20-year-old vines. This wine shows gorgeous richness and softness, with that softness carrying through to the tannins and contributing greater length and complexity. The Bella-Colonna delivery is a little more restrained overall, but the richness remains impressive."

"The 2024 Etna Rosso Calderara Sottana wafts up with dusty fragrances of dried violets, sweet ash, crushed black raspberries and exotic spice. This is rounded and supple, with the texture of weighted silk and an elegant wave of ripe red and blue fruits. It leaves a web of fine-grained tannins and a staining of primary concentration on the long, structured and youthfully tense close."
