"I was able to taste three 2021s from Woodward Canyon. The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series checks in as 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot, and 1% Cabernet Franc and was brought up in 30% new French and Hungarian oak. It's a perfumed, exotic, pretty red that has both red and blue fruits as well as some underlying sappy flowers, truffle, and leafy herb-like aromas and flavors. It's beautifully balanced, has fine tannins, and a pure, layered, seamless profile that will evolve gracefully over the coming 15 years."

"I like the savory nature of this dark-fruited cabernet. Black olives, dark plums, cocoa and graphite here, with a full-bodied yet fresh and classy palate. Drink or hold."

"Art inspires in places where words often fail. This Cabernet Sauvignon paints a picture of blackberries and seared steaks that waltz with pipe tobacco, iodine and a hint of mint. The almost creamy texture is counterpointed by elevated acidity that injects a bit of liveliness. Palette meets palate here. ‡M.A."

"Masses of steeped plums and crushed black raspberries and a dusting of clove and exotic spice make the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series a total pleasure on the nose. This sweeps across the palate with ease, guided by zesty acidity and ripe wild berry fruits that slowly saturate. It tapers off with a spicy tinge, leaving an air of lavender and hints of salted licorice. Fine-grained tannins frame the experience nicely."

"The 31st edition of the Artist Series features broad aromatic strokes of blackberry jam, hyacinths, and worn leather. The flavors range from sweet black cherries and black tea to pine bark and perfectly ripe black truffles, and they fill the mouth. This is a full-bodied wine, with elevated acidity and brawny tannins that frame the fruit in a fine fashion. Enjoy this pretty picture from 2027 to 2038. Cellar Selection. "M.A"

"The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series is blended with smaller portions of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec, and it matured in French and Hungarian oak. It has pure, layered aromas of Luxardo cherries, mint chocolate, thyme and forest floor. The full-bodied palate offers Goldilocks ripeness and complex savory and mineral character. It has a seamless structure of velvety tannins and vibrant acidity and a very long, latent finish."

"Youthfully coy, the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series opens slowly with a mix of dried flowers, incense, mint leaf and blackberries. This is cool-toned and pliant, with ripe black fruits that ride a silken textural wave as a bitter tinge of cocoa adds complexity. Only gently tannic, the 2022 leaves a mentholated freshness and finishes with medium length. Hints of lavender resonate on the close."

"The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series is dusty and youthfully coy on the nose, lifting from the glass with a bouquet of wild blueberries, sage and mint. It's silky and texturally deep on the palate with tart wild berries and mineral nuances that balance as savory herbal tones collect toward the close. A coating of fine tannins lingers as the 2020 tapers off with a spicy twang and classic feel, leaving licorice and tobacco notes lingering on. The Artist Series Cabernet is refined for 20 months in a combination of new French and Hungarian oak."

"Made with 7% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series is juicy, ripe and dark red-fruited with a heady and aromatic nose with hints of roasted red bell pepper, black cherry and sage before hints of graphite and oak spices sway from the glass. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is balanced with layers of finesse and focus while expressing bright acidity and fine-grained tannins. The wine glides to a delightfully spicy finish and will remain food-friendly for over a decade. The wine rested for 22 months in 54% new French oak and 14% new Hungarian oak barrels. Just under 19,000 bottles were made."
