Bourbon Whiskey, Maple Brulee Cask, 'Small Batch'

• Cask-finished small batch straight bourbon whiskey produced by NULU Whiskey (PCS Distilling Co.) in Louisville, Kentucky
• Bottled exclusively for Skurnik Wines & Spirits
• Distilled at MGP in Lawrenceburg, Indiana
• Mash bill of 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley
• Age statement of 8 years (aged 8–10 years); partial aging at MGP, re-barreled by NULU Whiskey Co into new American oak barrels for additional aging, and finished for approximately 1 year in maple brûlée barrels (ex-bourbon barrels previously used to age maple syrup that are toasted to caramelize the residual sugars)
• Maple brûlée barrels were toasted and recoopered by Tonnellerie Moreau cooperage in Notre-Dame-de-Stanbridge, Quebec, Canada  
• 4 barrels produced
• French toast, beeswax, cedar, and spiced cider on the nose lead to a chewy palate of ginger, cinnamon roll, and pecan praline balanced by delicate tannin, finishing long with leather and warming black pepper
• Non-chill filtered; 58% ABV

Fans of NULU’s sublimely delicious single barrel maple brûlée bourbon releases will be delighted to see the producer expand the expression to a small batch release. Nuanced rather than sweet, this whiskey, on a practical level, can replace Old Fashioneds at a cocktail party. Better still, it can be the bottle that magically emerges when tiresome guests have gone home.
