• Rosy gold in the glass, this whiskey is exuberantly fruity, opening with green apple, peach, and cranberry, developing further into piña colada, key lime pie, and fruitcake. The palate shines with Sauternes honey and a hint of mirabelle plum, broadening to coconut milk and roasted chestnut, subtly underscored with oak. Brighter red fruit notes appear on the finish, with a wisp of incense and a lingering sensation of chalk and prickly spice.

For this release in the Black Label series, Barrell’s blending prowess balances 18-year-old Kentucky whiskey finished in Cabernet Sauvignon barrels with 23–25-year-old Canadian whiskies finished in Sauternes casks. Significantly, the whiskies were given their respective finishes prior to being blended. The resulting expression—a masterpiece of sensory diplomacy given the big flavor personalities in the room—simultaneously conjures the complex flavors of these mature whiskeys and their pronounced finishing casks, resulting in the sublime sensation experienced when great things are somehow made greater.
