Brian doesn't make your typical New Zealand Sauvig
Brian doesn't make your typical New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.

In 2001, Brian Bicknell and his wife, Nicola, started a small winery in Marlborough with the goal of restoring the character of a region that was being consumed by what he calls "oil refinery wineries."

As Mahi—meaning "my work, my craft" in Māori—the Bicknells aim to create wines with texture and a true sense of place. That means sorting fruit in the vineyard across their seven estate sites, hand-picking, some whole-cluster pressing, indigenous fermentations, and minimalist winemaking.
