Tasting Notes
The grapes for The Pinot Project Pinot Grigio are harvested from the prestigious growing region of Veneto, Italy. The clay and limestone soils and temperate climate are ideal for producing wines with great natural acidity. After the grapes are crushed and skins are removed, the grape must settles and temperature-controlled fermentation occurs in stainless steel. The wine is completely unoaked to maintain freshness.
Like the previous year, northeastern Italy experienced early rains at the outset of the growing season, but the rest of the vintage was very favorable with higher-than-average yields and warm weather. The decision was clear to pick on the early side with consecutive weeks of little or no rain going into mid-August. This vintage shows great promise for white wines, especially Pinot Grigio. 2025 will be marked by expressive wines with notable quality and harmony.
On the nose, this vintage show green apple, citrus, and vibrant pear aromas. The wine is round and ripe on the palate, with a medium acidity. One can find notes of Granny Smith apple and lime followed by pear and white peaches. The final weeks of warm, dry weather this vintage—and a relatively early picking window—resulted in a nice, naturally balanced wine. Pair with seafood, pasta, light cheeses and, of course, friends and family. Great for weekends, nights, and times in between.
