‘L Lac

‘L Lac represents the Piona family’s return to Lugana, reconnecting with vineyards that had once been part of the family’s history. Founded as the second label of Cavalchina, the estate traces its origins to Luciano Piona, who owned farmland along the shores of Lake Frassino before the property was sold by his son, Giulietto, in order to enlarge the Cavalchina estate. In 2010, Luciano’s grandsons, Franco and Luciano, returned to the area, establishing ‘L Lac in the heart of the Lugana DOC.

Today, the estate encompasses 7.5 hectares of vineyards planted entirely to Turbiana across the municipalities of Peschiera del Garda, Desenzano del Garda, and Pozzolengo. Most of the vineyards lie on clay-rich plains near Lake Garda, where the dense soils impart the structure and concentration that define Lugana. The estate’s hillside vineyards in Pozzolengo, influenced by morainic soils, contribute salinity and refined minerality that integrates and gives balance to the final blend. Farmed at low yields, ‘L Lac is an estate dedicated to Turbiana, expressing the distinctive character of Lugana through the appellation’s diverse vineyard sites.
