"Pibarnon is one of the largest estates in Bandol and this wine is an homage to Mourvedre, which accounts for 95% of the blend, sourced from a dedicated plot at above 300m. Both fermentation and ageing take place with natural yeasts, partly in 3,000-litre Stockinger foudres, partly in jarres de gres (stoneware clay vessels), and the wine bottled in June following the harvest. This isn't a wine designed to be drunk in its first summer, but to age over the following year and more. Certified organic. Heather Dougherty: Pale garnet-copper. Rich maltiness, spiced stone fruit, flowers. A touch of tannin lends structure. Jasmine tea. Layers of flavour. So satisfying. Lionel Periner: Intense colour, silky texture, good balance. Full-bodied but elegant, with strawberries and cream, savouriness and spice."
