For most of its existence in Argentina, Bonarda was grown and cultivated as blending grape given its big yields, color and fruit. However, the original winemakers of Altos Las Hormigas discovered the potential of growing single varietal Bonarda and produced their first commercial vintage in 2003.

Located in the Chacras de Coria subregion of Mendoza, the estate goes back three generations within the Furlotti family when they planted 0.85 hectares of primarily Malbec in 1916. They produce only one wine which is made by beloved winemaker Carmelo Patti.

The project began in 2011 when five wine loving friends planted a 7 hectare vineyard in Gualtallary. Composed of calcium carbonate and granite-rich soil, it sits at 1400m in elevation. No strangers to experimentation, they utilize locally-produced concrete eggs and amphora for fermentation.
The Morcos family originally planted their vines in the 1930’s and third generation Matias Marcos makes Luna Duna at the family winery. The vines are located in Eastern Mendoza in the subregion of Alto Verde, San Martin.
