Produced by the Hikari Shuzo Distillery in Fukuoka, Japan, Hakata is a range of whiskies fermented with koji and distilled from barley that are aged in Oloroso sherry casks, resulting in decadent expressions that show dramatic transformation with each ascending age statement.

Established in 1922 and currently run by 4th-generation owner Tada Inoue, the brewery has been an innovator in the industry, since 1982 brewing only Junmai style sake. While making a wide range of styles, they specialize in the rich, creamy and off dry sake characteristic to the Fukuoka region.
