Widely considered one of the finest producers of sherry in Jerez, Emilio Lustau’s bodega dates back to 1896 and began exporting in the 1950s. Much of Spain’s brandy and vermouth (“vermut”) traditions are tied to sherry production, and Lustau brings their winning combination of superior quality and approachable pricing to bear on both categories as readily as sherry. Grapes are single-distilled in a short column similar to those found in Armagnac. For the vermut, distillate is fortified with wine from the bodega; for the brandy, it is aged using Lustau’s solera system to integrate very old brandy with the fresh vibrance of younger spirits.

Tasting Notes
Lustau Vermut Rojo is a blend of two wines each aged individually in the traditional, authentic Jerez “Solera y Criaderas” System: An Amontillado, dry and nutty, with a Pedro Ximénez, sweet, intense, and velvety. The primary botanicals include sage, gentian, coriander, wormwood, and orange peel. Sweet aromas of ripe fruit mingle with hints of citrus fruit and herbaceous notes, over a smoked wood base. The palate is velvety and balanced, finishing bitter with a delicate and distinctive nutty aftertaste. 15% ABV
