"It's almost unfair. Stolpman keeps upping the ante with the quality of this"

"#94 Top Wines of the USA 2025: Grip and polish go hand in hand in this syrah, showing tension and momentum with counterpoints of figs, iodine, black cherries and tapenade, all framed by tealike tannins. The finish has a dusting of chaparral and a grace note of sappy forest fruit. From ungrafted vines. Drink or hold."

"An even more refined and structured wine than it typically is, the 2024 Syrah Estate Grown now incorporates the own-rooted blocks that previously supplied the Originals and Hilltop bottlings, which have now been discontinued. An expressive, distinctly perfumed bouquet of violets, lavender and stony accents soaring from a red and black fruited core introduces a punchy, seamless palate. It concludes with a beamingly bright and high-toned finish supported by swelling, chalky tannins. The new additions here lend this wine an additional degree of seriousness and dimension, making it one of the best value wines anywhere on the Central Coast and one that has serious aging potential."

"Distinctive for its elegant opening notes of pineapple sage and red currant, which are enmeshed with a commanding core that wows with its graceful texture at first and then is pulled toward a structured, graphite-laced feel, while the core flavors of morello cherry and plum simmer in the background. Finishes with fine tannins and a late hint of herb-marinated olive. Best from 2027 through 2042.-A.R."

"The 2023 Syrah Estate Grown is an excellent wine, especially for $36. Fleshy and expressive, it coats the palate with serious concentration. There are no hard edges here, just velvety blue fruit, leather, clove, crushed rocks and a lift of fresh mint. This midweight Syrah really impresses for its vibrancy, palate presence and immediacy."

"The Stolpmans' largest-production syrah offers a really vibrant blueberry and blackberry character laced with mineral and chalk notes, for which they credit the limestone soil. Full-bodied with moderate tannins. Good concentration and length. Drink or hold."

"Fermented with one-third whole clusters, the 2023 Syrah Estate exudes a lovely balance between high-toned energy and grounded depth. The nose is classically bright, savory and herbal before the palate takes a deep, darker-fruited turn, showcasing a beautiful, velvety texture supported by sturdy tannins. It finishes on a lifted yet weightless note with impressive precision."

"Fresh plums, blueberries, ground pepper, violets, and some gamey, gunflint notes all define the aromatics of the 2023 Syrah Estate Grown, a 100% Syrah fermented with 50% whole clusters and aged 11 months in neutral French oak puncheons. It's medium to full-bodied, round, plump, and delicious. I'd be thrilled to drink a bottle over the coming 7-8 years. Drink 2025-2033."

"The 2022 Syrah Estate is scented of blueberries and briar fruit with nuances of tar and forest floor. The full-bodied palate features mineral-tinged fruit, rounded tannins and bright bursts of acidity that highlight violet perfume on the finish. This is very easy to drink! 3,300 cases produced."

"Tasted from tank prior to botting, the 2022 Syrah Estate Grown is super-promising. It shows the intensity of the year, and yet also remains light on its feet. The 2022 might be one of the best ever here. Best of all, it should be a steal."
