Mars Tsunuki Distillery in remote Kagoshima has released the seventh iteration of its namesake single malt, nearly ten years after the distillery came online in October 2026. Though Chief Distiller Tatsuro Kasano apprenticed at Mars Shinshu for three years before overseeing Tsunuki’s construction, efforts are taken here to produce a heavier, more robust spirit. This goal is helped, in part, by the significant angel’s share seen in southern Kyushu’s hot climate, coalescing in a brawny house style that concentrates flavors with brooding restraint.
