Using molasses from coveted Demerara sugar which is exclusively grown in an equatorial river basin below sea level, El Dorado and Diamond Reserve are produced at Diamond Distillers Limited (DDL), the last Demerara rum distillery in Guyana, and by extension, the world. Operating since 1670, Demerara Distillers now use the oldest functioning stills in the world, all completely different in composition and size, yielding entirely different distillates that lead to the complexity for which these rums are known. Similarly to cognac, the age on a bottle of Demerara rum indicates the youngest spirit found in the bottle. From the lightly aged Diamond Reserve White Rum, to the charcoal-filtered El Dorado 3 Year, to the decadence of the El Dorado 21 Year Special Reserve, to the exotic, Caribbean aromas of the Spiced Rum, there is a rum here for everyone!
